This traditional stone Cottage set in the tranquil mountains of West Mayo on a working farm, has been recently renovated. Built in the 1890's, the original stone facing of the cottage has been well preserved.

The cottage is situated in the heart of the Gaeltacht (Irish speaking area) at the foot of "The Deirc" mountains. Hidden in the valley's between these mountains are 3 lakes, these lakes are surrounded by some of the most spectacular, unspoilt landscape in Ireland and the area is ideal for hill walkers and mountain climbers. The rivers coming from the lakes provide local electricity supply.

The house is heated by storage heaters and has an open fire in the living room. A colour TV and video is also available in the living room. |

This fully fitted pine Kitchen is equipped with the following:
Electric Cooker, Fridge/Freezer, Microwave, Washing Machine, Tumble Dryer, Iron/Ironing
Board, Crockery, Cutlery and Saucepans.

The Cottage has 4 bedrooms, 2 upstairs and 2 downstairs. Each room has a dressing table, bedside lockers and wardrobe space. All linen is provided including duvets. Sleeps 9 people.

Our local Spar Shop is only ¼ mile and less than 2 miles away is the local pub "Maire Luke's" where you can enjoy traditional Irish Music, Irish Dancing "agus Craic go leor!"
The Cottage is 2 ½ miles from "Lough Mask", which is renowned for its fishing, arrangements for boat hire is available on request. Arrangements for Pony 'Trekking are also available on request.

The cottage is nicely situated for scenic drives around Connemara, Lennane and Cong, where the "Quiet Man" was filmed. Golf can be played at the nearby courses of Ballinrobe, Westport and Castlebar, all within a 40 minute drive. Ashford Castle is 18 miles.
