Tourmakeady GAA reflect on historic year
At their recent AGM, the Tourmakeady Club looked forward with fervour to Division One football in 2001. After languishing for years in the junior ranks, the club are now embarking on exciting chapter, which all officials and players are sure to relish. It is indeed a great achievement for such a small club, and many Tourmakeady men wore the green and red during the year gone by. President John Callan paid special tribute in his address to the local members of the Mayo Ladies team who achieved the double; Brian McConnell gave special thanks to all the underage footballers, and their parents and trainers for their commitment; and Chairperson Kevin O'Toole looked forward to a busy year when the local team will take on the likes of Crossmolina and Charlestown in the top flight. He also revealed that the new spectator stand will be officially opened on Sunday May 6th with the Mayo Seniors taking on another top inter-county side. Mr O'Toole also appealed for more assistance in the running of the club lotto, more parental input at underage level, and anyone wishing to help with the pitch, financially or otherwise would be most welcome.
